nomachine update not accpeting administrators password

When I rebooted I chose the entry for windows and it just hung before the log in screen. I then booted with a Mandrake cd and used the rescue console to reinstall LILO. It says my password is invalid so it won't let me log into my XP installation.

I set null passwords on my computer so there is none. Pop in the XP cd and go to the recovery console, but it asks me for the the Administrator password. It says the boot media is invalid, so I decide to try to reinstall the Windows MBR The computer won't boot off of the new HDD. Cloned every partition to a new HDD using Norton Ghost, thinking I could just swap the bad for the new and all would be good you will also need rawrite to make the floppy.- Had a failing HDD with XP, Mandrake, & BeOS, but XP was loaded last so there was not boot menu, it only booted into XP One suggestion if using the linux floppy, DO NOT TURN OFF SYSKEY when prompted- syskey is not enabled when the the system is in dos mode.this will certainly break your system, do not turn off syskey. It is not guarenteed, and I have used it several times. The comment above is ok, but to preserve data and functionality, I suggest resting the pass with the linux boot disk. The linux boot disk if free ntfs dos is 200+ dollars. If you pay for a copy of NTFS DOS, you can delete the SAM, which will result in blank passwords for all users on the box, although that will break all accounts except the administrator.Ģ) Replace the SAM with a known password. Not a very long question ) But I have a long answer.ġ) You can delete the SAM database, using a linux boot disk- found here- or reset it with the same disk.
